Drive-By Truckers are playing tonight, but the show is sold out. You could stand outside The Orange Peel looking sketchy or roll the dice with Craigslist.
Or you could come to The Rocket Club and rock out with us to The Whiskey Daredevils. I’ve never seen them, but I’m already digging their style. Their new album features covers of Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, Fear, The Ramones, The Misfits, and Sex Pistols.
The Dodos are coming! The Dodos are coming! Tonight at Harvest Records around 8:30. Yes, Pitchfork did just give them a Best New Music, but we know you liked them before that.
Norwegian Silje Nes and Asheville’s Tony Wain & the Payne will also be around doing their thangs.
If you haven’t been going out to see live music, you’re just missing out. Last week we hit Stars on Thursday night at The Orange Peel and were ecstatically surprised by Martin Royle, ex-Washington Social Club and one of my favorite musicians. Then on Saturday, maybe everyone was home for Easter, but Blitzen Trapper and Fleet Foxes rocked The Grey Eagle. Rocked.
Sorry, I’ve been in Texas. There was this little event called South by Southwest. Sadly In my travels I missed some great local shows: These United States with semi-locals Arizona and Man Man with The Felice Brothers. Fortunately, I saw all but Arizona in Austin.
